I'm considering re-mapping my 2006 (4.3) V8 Vantage.

My objective is to improve throttle response (e.g. to improve gear changes) and low speed (e.g. in traffic) running essentially to improve the car s driveability. Obviously I d be happy to have more power too, but that s very much a secondary bonus so I wouldn t be interested in any other upgrades.

Has anyone on here done that, and can recommend a company in the South ? There's lots of generic tuning firms advertising on the Internet, but very few Aston specialists - or doesn't it matter ?

My 4.7 has had a remap to achieve pretty much that, albeit the remap was done at the same time as sports cats being fitted and higher flow air boxes so it is impossible to say what caused what. However, the difference is noticeable. Mine was done at Bamford Rose in the Cotswolds who are specialists at this and have a lot of youtube content covering the options. A quick search on here will show a range of opinions on BR but I’ve always been very pleased with them. Would I go with a non-specialist generic map on these engines? No way not in the slightest. And not because the engine is especially delicate (it isn’t) but because BR and other specialists do at least fine tune it to the car and understand the parameters they are playing with. Bob in the backstreet with his laptop and a USB cable may be a little less knowledgeable!

Had my 2009 4.3 remapped due to having the twin plate clutch, lightened flywheel, 200 cell cats and GT4 air filters ... Adrian at AHM in Hampshire did this, he has a rolling road and writes the maps himself. The biggest change to drive ability came from the twin plate clutch, easily one of the best upgrades you can do in my opinion, transforms the way the clutch feels (lighter pedal) and makes it much easier to drive in stop/start traffic. The plus side being the twin plate was/is a very similar price to the single plate.

I can recommend AHM, based in Hartley Wintney, Hampshire just off the M3.

I also have the BR map. I found Mike very helpful and knowledgeable.

I had it done to maximise the benefits of high flow cats and airbox mod. I would recommend doing the cats at least.

higher flow air boxes
This is interesting, Mike has done video's about them not being necessary as the original air boxes/filters moved far more air than the engine needs or something along those lines.

I have a 2007 4.3 manual and had the Bamford Rose remap for the same reasons you listed. Physical throttle pedal response is so much better/sharper and the tractability of the engine at low speed and low revs is also much improved. I just find the drivability of the engine so much better throughout the rev range. I think it's one of the single biggest improvements you can make.
