TVR 350i Hood frame
Discussion
Hi, I own a 1986 TVR 350i convertible. How can I refit the hood frame onto its supports without removing the mounting brackets that allow the frame to pivot? Or should I loosen one bracket instead? The problem is that the vinyl trim has to be glued afterwards, which is not easy.
Thank you for your advice.

Hi,
I’m talking about the “Targa” roll bar that pivots to close the soft top. There are two brackets that fit into the seat belt mounting points. I dismantled it by unscrewing one of the brackets to refurbish it. Now I want to reinstall it with both brackets in place — is it possible by making use of the flexibility of the roll bar?

You really do not want to be stressing the hoop. The bolts that pivot the hoop are spaced/matched equally each side, to the width of the hoop (filling the gap as such) and these spacers are hidden by 1" wired hose, between the hoop and the shell trim (hiding the spacers). A@

As Adrian says really..I replaced the seat belts and removed the fittings and the hoop and fitting was reversal of removal...not sure about using the flexibility of the hoop as you would need to use some force to essentially bend it into place....I m talking about the Targa roll bar that pivots to close the soft top.
