Article says it's globally

According to Google they employ 1.55 million with 75k in the UK and the article says they are still recruiting in UK

In those terms losing 14k worldwide isn't catastrophic

They not long ago announced a £40bn investment in the UK.

The 14k is global and centred around office workers. I'd be surprised if 'on the ground' staff were affected.

Not a huge surprise after the hiring spree in 2020, AI means they have some offsets to pure human capital, one to watch from an employment trend perspective.

I heard that they were looking to reduce headcount by 30k so if its "only" half that then maybe not as bad as expected. Earnings report on Thursday.
