I am looking for an oil level sensor for my car that was manufactured in October 2014 ..

Part number 121617638342 is a part I can search for but what I don’t understand is the superseded part number 121618638754 non exchangeable retrospectively…My car is a F55 have I got it correct in saying that I cannot use the superseded and part number 121617638342 is the only one I can use …Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Does it not mean there is a modification to the part that might require other parts?

I think realoem is only a guide really. Its not as up to date as what a dealer will have.

Hi, my oil level sensor after speaking to a BMW dealer was only produced for 1 year then the part number changed but not the unit (Hella was the manufacturer) i now have the part number 12617638342 and i now get the a aftermarket unit ...

What BMW told me at the parts dept that the unit is serviceable and you can replace the gasket part number 12617604790 £10 so thats what i have done for now replace the gasket ...Hope this also help anyone else in the future ..

I would like to add that you can also get the 3 nuts for the unit 077119905544 and these nuts are only torqued to between 7.5 and 9 Nm after finger tightening first ..
