We bought a 1 year old BMW in August and I discovered it had two years left to run on a Service Inclusive plan, obviously bought when the car was new. BMW then expired this a couple of days later so I complained, as the terms and services state it cannot be transferred and remains with the vehicle. After 10 weeks, multiple emails and lies from BMW they refuse to reinstate it. Is this standard practice?

I too bought a 1 year old BMW in 2023 with a service inclusive plan added by the first owner. It carried on into my ownership and doesn’t expire until 2027.

BMW service inclusive transfers with the car as it tied to the VIN. What reason did they state for voiding it.

We traded in a Mini that had a monthly service plan and the reasons they gave were:

1. This is actually the Mini service plan but it is showing against the BMW. I told them it was registered against the VIN
2. This is not a Service Inclusive plan but a monthly plan so we have cancelled it. I took screenshots of the app - it clearly says it is a Service Inclusive Plan (see below)
3. I actually bought a Service Inclusive plan as I didn't know it already had one. I found the existing plan a couple of hours after purchase so I cancelled it. The original plan (see screenshot) was until 16/9/2027 and the car was registered on 17/9/2024 (so obviously a 3 year plan). They said "Further to our last conversation I've spoken with the Service Development Team who can confirm that the only Service Inclusive package that was on your BMW Vehicle is the one that you purchased then cancelled." This is clearly another lie

BMW Customer Service have washed their hands of it and referred me back to the original garage. If I wish to make another complaint on the dealer site I am directed back to BMW Customer Service.

I was playing around with the app the day after I bought and found it so I took a screenshot. They expired it a couple of days later. If it was the one I paid for about an hour before it would have expired in August 2028

Try one of those consumer help people like Katie Morley at The Telegraph.

WhatCar used to have one, but they often sided with the manufacturers - I guess not wanting to bite the hand that feeds them.

The question I would have is, how were you able to purchase a service inclusive plan on a car that already had one ?

My experience is that they are tied to the VIN and very much transferable (in that it stays on the car regardless of ownership) but those are cars that have left the factory with it rather than one put on after via the dealer perhaps there is a difference.
