Having had an epically crap week (loss of both a friend and one of our dogs to cancer), MrsC and I want to just get away for some peace & quiet/R&R next week, with our other dog. Have decided on hotel rather than cottage, or the RV, as we just want to not have to do anything, and not too far to travel. We just want to walk the dog, eat, drink and shut down.

The Goodwood Hotel, at the house/track, looks to be a decent option, with a variety of room types available, and the dog can apparently go everywhere in the hotel with us (except the spa - fair enough!). Plenty to see and do around the area. Around 2 hours travel which is fine. Reviews are 4/5 overall, although some of the 1/5 are pretty critical in places.

Any view from the PH hive?

If this is what was the old Marriott Goodwood hotel, nice place but nothing much locally within walking distance other than the beautiful countryside. So if you want other places to eat etc, you are probably needing to get in the car but some nice places not far away either.

Stayed at Montagu Arms a few times, lovely hotel, nice restaurant / pub. Not far from Goodwood Hotel.

Good walking area and Beaulieu Motor Museum on your doorstep.
