Hi All, I'm new here.

I have a 2012 LR4/Discovery 4 SDV6 and it has almost done 300,000 KM. Upon investigating a noise coming from the engine, technicians confirmed it's the crank bearing and the crank has some visible damages too (not yet cracked). So they recommend either a full engine rebuild or replacement.
From where I come from, LR engine rebuild has a bad reputation. So the next financially viable option is to replace it with an imported reconditioned (potentially low mileage) engine.

Reconditioned engines are available in vehicle yards but no body knows whether those are from TDV6 or SDV6. Some of the engines are from 2010/2011 D4s so I believe they were in TDV6 config. So my question is, is it a good idea to use an engine that came in a TDV6 D4 in place of my SDV6 engine? As far as I managed to find, both engines are physically the same and uses same sequential turbos. Some people say the only difference in between these two configs is the ECU tuning.

Thanks in advance

My D4 was registered in May 2011 and has an SDV6 engine with 6 speed box.
