Hello all

Currently about to buy an i4 m50.

Dealer has added a ' 1 year warranty pack' onto the agreement. Ev platinum warranty by protago autocare

I will be asking to get this removed as assume its worth nothing .

Surely I get a warranty when buying anyway?

Car is 72 plate so just out of manufacture warranty though

Thanks

We have found an existing warranty for your car and would like to discuss what Insured Warranty options are available to you. Please call BMW Insured Warranty Services on 0330 029 2836 to speak to a member of our team who will be happy to help you

Will ring tomorrow

The " heavily discounted " warranty. Works out 800 pound ish extra for 4 years. (Then add interest) And only lasts a year

Dont buyers get a 6 months warranty ish anyway ?

An approved used BMW should have a 12 month BMW warranty. When this runs out you can purchase the BMW "insured" comprehensive warranty as long as the car has been serviced in accordance with the manufacturer's schedule and not modified. If they're trying to fob you off with anything else then you need to start asking questions.

Has 2 months left.

They have quoted 500 for a year for extended warranty. Never done one before

Is it worth it ?

Is this an Approved Used BMW or is it coming from an independent dealer?

If the former, it should have a 12 month BMW warranty. If the latter, check that the car has been serviced in line with the manufacturer's shchedule and has no modifications, then purchase the official BMW warranty via the link that has already been posted. Any third party warranty being offered by an independent dealer is junk. It might be cheap but it will also be worthless.

Don't you get a 10 year warranty with BMW, like you do with Toyota and Lexus?

Adding the 3rd party warranty is a good way of trying to pass the buck should the car go wrong, the car will have its 8 year/100k miles battery warranty and from what you're saying it has 2 months of its BMW factory warranty remaining which you'll be able to extend via the insurance based product they have however that's not as gold plated as it might seem and can be costly, as an example they wanted £2500 a year to extended my 7 series warranty.
