The Prisoner - Still relevant today?

I was still a child when I first saw The Prisoner, (the original 60s series with Patrick McGoohan) and was totally wowed by it.
This week, I was hosting some overseas visitors who'd never even heard of it before but have now watched it after going back home and have messaged me saying how amazed they were by it.
It surprised me that it can still have that same effect today as it did on me, all those decades ago.

Yeah I randomly started watching this last week, having noticed it on ITVX. Just the first episode so far but definitely pulled me in. Think I was surprised to see it was only 17 episodes so easily digestible.

If it helps there was only one ad break in the first third for the first episode I watched.Unless of course they do the thing they do on Amazon, where they show only the odd ad break for the first couple of episodes, then pile more on when you're already invested. Noticed this during the last season of Clarksons Farm....

I'm afraid I always tail off as the episodes become ever battier.
But there's nothing else quite like it.
It would be interesting to know how high its international profile is.
I stayed in Portmeirion a few weeks ago. The rooms have a channel dedicated to it so you don't have to go outside and look at the real thing.

Yes!Went there when a member of the Lotus 7 owners club.
They let us park all the cars inside the village. When we returned after looking around a group of Japanese tourists were all sitting in the cars taking photographs. They thought the cars were all part of the "scene"

The Prisoner had a huge impact on myself and cohorts in our early teens. It shaped my belief in reacting to oppression.
The original series was an masterpiece. It's still relevant today as a political warning (alongside 1984 etc), artistic gem, social event and many other accolades. It was truly unique and very British.

What a coincidence!It's the reason I fell in love with the Lotus 7 and why I have owned a Lotus 7 and two Caterham 7s, and why I visited Portmeirion (many times!) before meeting my (now) wife there and eventually having my 60th birthday and getting married there (second marriage for both of us)
