Terrible idea?

2004 318i SE touring, manual, plain Jane silver with blackish cloth, claims 52k, MOT history supports.
And that history suggests skimped maintenance, with an oil leak for some time, this was on the last fail
Nearside Front Outer Brake pad(s) incorrectly mounted BROKEN OFF (1.1.13 (c))
Well done whichever friend did that, and it has previously had this:
Nearside Rear Corrosion to wheel arch not creating a jagged edge.
Offside Rear Corrosion to wheel arch not creating a jagged edge.
Nearside Rear Suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive (5.3.6 (a) (i))
Offside Rear Suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive (5.3.6 (a) (i))
No sign of the arch rot, so something has been done.
I could do with a station car that is capable of reasonable miles in modest comfort from time.to.time.
I can have it for a grand, and cars at a grand are rare these days, should I pursue it, or is it as exciting as Tesco's own porridge oats, but for this much cash I should stfu and just get it?
