So far clocked 3. I think one of those is miles ahead and wouldn't surprise me if it's the best of the whole lot this year.
First one I saw was ASDA's it's called A Very Merry Grinchmas. In my opinion it's awful

Then I saw Pandora's Using one of the greatest songs "God Only Knows" by The Beach Boys it's outstandingly simple and warm. Young lad wants to buy his mum the moon pendant thingey . This is because his mum tells him she loves him to the moon.
I don't care that much for Pandora but this ad is great

Today I clocked Sainsbury's and its just ok
I'm pretty sure that the "national treasure" Dawn French will be back for M+S and that John Lewis will manage to find a fortune to have theirs out soon.

Can't stand the Christmas M&S food advert, but that because Dawn French is in it. Her and Lenny Henry - if they both attended the University of Comedy and graduated with a masters - they would still remain unfunny.

Bit unrealistic using a white family in the advert as they just don't exist anymore. Should have been a mixed race, lesbian couple with a couple of disabled, trans children, much more representative of society nowadays.

Like the boots one but the music at the end is odd … like 2 adverts into one

The John Lewis one is strange, do they even sell records ? I take it the boy is autistic ?? Little bit lost with it. But all in all it’s not great.

The one I do like is the Amazon advert. 3 old girls on a hill. Clever, as its can be broadcast in any country, as they never speak.

O/T

Not a TV advert but in Sainsburys tonight they had a fully decked xmas in the entrance FFS! They will start flogging valentines stuff next week at this rate. Bah humbug.

Sorry, carry on.

As a middle-aged ex-raver with a young son, the John Lewis ad hit me quite hard. I guess I’m the demographic they were aiming at. I can see it might not work with a younger generation though.

You know those adverts so bad you can't take your eyes away and you find yourself almost, God help us, enjoying, that's the Asda Xmas advert that is.

Me too, saw it this morning and it's one of my favourite songs and having a 12 year old boy it smacked me right in the mouth.

I can't lie I was in tears but strangely I showed it to my son and he also started crying, I play that song quite a bit in the car so he'd know the connection.

It is really nice to have a positive "Dad" being shown and I said to my wife "it's not for you" and she agreed.

Another +1 for the JL Advert. Fantastic.

As a dad to two teenage boys and a big fan of 90's piano house, this is possibly the first (and maybe only?) Christmas TV Advert that has really appealed/struck/moved me.

The last two posts made me smile. I wrote a post earlier along very similar lines of this is one of those rare ads aimed squarely at the bog standard 40something bloke. Then deleted it as I presumed someone would argue with me and point out examples of other ads aimed at men and I couldn’t be bothered with it.

I see Guinness have resurrected their usual advert, which seems to have been going for decades. I really like it, even if it is a bit mawkish. For me, it sums up the sentimentality of the season and is beautifully filmed.

Agreed, one wonders how many people helped them out of the sledges at the bottom of the hill so they could start walking back up the hill.

You're never too old to have a bit of fun.

And it was shown last year so easily recycled.

YES

And as far as I can tell a direct re-run of the advert from last year ?
Answered perfectly by the poster above. One of the perils of replying to an earlier post
Thank you

I thought that was an advert for Alzheimer's UK until the John Lewis name appeared.
