Hi all, I want to leave my 2010 Seat Ibiza parked for an extended period of time and want to disconnect the battery to stop it going flat.

However I've run into a problem in when I disconnect the neg terminal the alarm starts going off a few seconds later.

So.. is there are way of doing this (maybe I'm missing something)?

I tried the double-click central lock button method that I believe disables the internal motion sensor but I think this still turns on the alarm which then freaks out that the battery is disconnected.

If I manually lock the drivers door with the physical key will this make a difference?

Hope this makes sense - thanks!

Car alarms only go off for one minute.

First make sure your key does lock and unlock the drivers door and the lock isn't seized.

Then open your bonnet

Then lock your car with the fob

Then disconnect your battery

Put a rag over the alarm siren if possible for 60 seconds

Shut bonnet

Job done
