If any of you have watched this video, it might appear convincing.

BUT,

1. The youtuber has tried to estimate new registrations by using an inappropriate method.
2. The youtuber has input 2025 figures without realising that they only represent 6 months (at the most). The latest DVLA data has not even been published yet, for the 3rd quarter 2025.

Take a look directly at BYD new registration figures released by DVLA or SMMT, then you will see that they do not match the claimed numbers in this video. BYD is a simple example. Rather than BYD sales reducing in 2025 (claimed in the video), they have rocketed.

The January to October 2025 new registration figures should be published by the SMMT this week.

While I agree the Vid is crap, BYD sales have rocked to the expense of other brands. Due to the economic climate sales have been supressed the entire car market and influenced many to buy what they know. Further new car sales have been distorted by pre-registering car sales to maximise figures and trying to avoid ICE car fines. Anyway as any retailer will tell you, margin is king and of course we don't know those figures, only that the likes of Jag and VW(inc Porsche) are likely to be less than Zero.

It's all made up for the purposes of clicks, nothing more.

If he'd wanted actual numbers to work with and to save him the trouble of extracting that information from How Many Left, he could have just used the Government's own published licensing statistics tables available here:

https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-set...

Table VEH0105 and VEH0142 break down total vehicles in the UK fleet by fuel type. This shows that the rate of EV adoption is increasing steadily as would be expected.

As an example, net total EV cars in the UK fleet (end of Q2 for each year as latest '25 published quarter) If anything, this undersells '25 as Q2 was a bit soft whilst the market was waiting for the grant side of things to be announced:

As an aside, EVs are, at a high level, displacing Diesel cars from the fleet (not perfectly tracking as clearly an increase in Petrol and hybrid too, but strong correlation) - if Geoff doesn't think EV volumes are increasing, then what is displacing all the Diesel cars that have disappeared off the UK road over the same period?:

"Geoff Talks ste" is a slightly mad conspiracy theorist who believes a combination of EVs and vaccinations are a conspiracy to control our brains. Of course, he might be right, and I am only typing this because I once had a vaccination and once walked past an EV in a car park.

Why anyone watches that rubbish I have no idea as he seems to have little love, knowledge or genuine interest in cars. If you want something with someone who actually seems to like cars try the "Hubnut" stuff.

+1 on the hubnut stuff, ian Is great. That Geoff buys cars is an absolute loon. I've met him at a car show at the NEC, he had a car on show and was spouting utter nonsense, some of which I couldn't repeat in polite society.

If you strongly disagree with a YouTube video, the worst thing in the world you can do is post it online complaining. On the basis you’ve already watched it, just dislike the video and move on. The bots all thrive on polarised opinions and you’ve inadvertently promoted it by posting it, even if you believe you’re trying to discredit it.

I make no comment about the content as I’ve not watched it and have no intention of doing so.
