I read an article this evening on fun £5k cars and decided to turn it into a little game. Not that I'm buying at the moment but it passes the time!

Can you pick out a fun car for £5k?

I set my search at maximum 20 miles from my address. Obviously everyone has a different idea of fun but this is my top choice..

I actually had one of these just over 10 years ago. Sold it for the same money as this one. Brilliant car.

What can you find near you?

Like the Mr2.

I'd have no trouble finding something nice for £5k:-

Nice Giulietta for £4k

Low mileage 3.0 SLK for the wife (also £4k)

Not fun but nice low mileage CLS (£4k again)

Now I've started looking I want to sell my car again and buy something cheap.

I know what you mean.

The Alfa is lovely, even if it is diesel! I've still never owned an Alfa.

I currently have an mx5 RF. It's only 5 years old and has 10k miles on it. Have to say it's a great car and I have no plans to change it. But it was £20k which for me is a lot of money and I'm not sure it's 6 times better than my old mr2. If I do decide to get something else eventually I'd probably look at cheaper cars.

A couple of others I like.

I probably would buy this but I like it...

I'd missed the Alfa was a diesel. I don't mind a diesel but not in a small hatch.

You like a buzzy little car then. They all look good options, I prefer a lump of a car generally but not exclusively.
