How did you end up with your tech provider ?
Discussion
Question for those of you that don’t have in-house IT.
How did you end up finding and selecting your tech partner ?
I talking about std IT (Office 365, backups device management, cybersecurity, firewalls)
Adverts, they are your sector experts, cold call, right place right time, referral, trade show ?
I’m considering investing in a MSP (managed service provider) they are great techies (as well as a super well organised business) but all their clients come through 15 years of word of mouth / referrals.
Upsell to exiting 20 or so clients does ok, but few if any new clients for last couple of years.

A friend of mine has built a good solid IT business supplying, servicing and maintaining IT equipment in SME’s - small / medium offices etc.
He’s grown the business predominantly through someone who leaves company a and goes to company b, the that person then brings him into company b, someone then leaves company b to join company c and brings him into company c - and so it keeps going…
It’s all about the service delivery which has been the secret of his success.
