Sadly, Gore will stop making running and cycling clothing after over forty years:

Sad news.

I own more Gore than any other brand.

This news hot on the heels of german mail order bike company, YT, filing for insolvency.

I've had one of their waterproof jackets for probably 10years + (not even the top of the range SD one) and its been brilliant in significant rain!

I'm sure the tech of other manufacturers has caught up to be fair. But its a real shame to hear of their demise. I own 2 short sleeve jerseys of theirs. And I like them more than my (old) Assos and Castelli ones

I STILL think there's a market for good priced, well made, subtle colourway, quality items that are not covered in gaudy logos like Maap/PNS et al

What a shame, I like their stuff. Honest kit that was fairly priced and did the job you wanted it to.

I agree, there needs to be a manufacturer who makes decent kit, that works and not at stupid pricing (to pay for the poncey marketing and skinny birds with tatts in the photos)

Lusso is decent and I just got the new waterproof from Galibier for club runs and stuff. Not race cut like my Gore, but for 80 quid, punches way above it's weight.

I've got a fair bit of PNS & MAAP stuff, especially PNS. None of it has gaudy logos? Or even large lettering? In fact, aside from the fit, the subtly and non-branding design is one of the main pulls for me?

All of which are usually £120-140, before sales wink

I’m afraid you didn’t show us the full picture. For example, this is what the back of that navy jersey looks like:

Gore-Tex fabrics continue, and numerous brands will use them for the foreseeable. Also, you’ll appreciate that Gore makes a broad variety of fabrics, each with different characteristics.

What’s changed is that Gore will stop making its own-brand cycling and running gear. It’s a shame, as they’re good quality without the ludicrous pricing of the Instagram influencer brands.

As everyone knows YouTube and Google and Microsoft are always listening to your thoughts. So this popped up in my feed

Gore isn't mentioned, but I put it just above the Sportful/Pearl Izumi level

Id not heard of Izadore, nor NeoPro and I'm surprised Q36.5 is so high

Pahahaha. PNS will never not be funny. I'm a manchild I know. Plus, £120 for that is laughable.

Except when you wear one then compare it with a £70/80 one, it isn't so funny. It's even less funny when you've washed both a dozen times and the £70/80 is shapeless, faded and losing elasticity.

On the PNS thing, a friend of mine is a PAS ambassador. The sale in the UK of the Mechanism range is lower than in any other country solely due to the PNS branding.

I’ve heard good things about Isadore, but never tried it.

I was surprised that Q36.5 wasn’t equal first, alongside Assos. Both offer top-notch textile technology—unsurprisingly, given that Assos’s former R&D chief founded Q36.5.

However, personal preference for gear brands is subjective—and a great way for YouTubers to get clicks!

You appear to be very 'influenced' by social media? Maybe you aught to step out of the virtual world and try real life? Or are you just a little sore because your influencer career hasn't taken off as you hoped?
