News still coming in, significant blast. Its TOTAL bedlam at the moment so hard to tell exactly what is going on.

Not at all good. Definitely sounds deliberate, at any rate.

India has a wide variety of causes which have previously resorted to terrorism. There are religious groups, but also ethno-nationalist and separatist groups and left and right wing extremists. Also enough disregard for health and safety that this might not have been a bomb.

It's bedlam there (Red Fort) at the best of times, I can only imagine the utter chaos that a car bomb (if that's what it was) would cause.

And the sad thing is, a LOT of the people around there will be living on the streets, and at that time of the evening there will probably have been loads of kids about.

I'm well aware of the ethnic/political/religious issues in India - have visited Delhi a couple of times.
Looks like it was a Hyundai i20 involved & possibly amonium nitrate fertiliser, which can be used in bomb making.

Not clear from the article what was in the car, it seems to be saying that there is a lack of evidence at the scene of a bomb. The ammonium nitrate and weapons were seized elsewhere - could be linked, might not be. The seized material is being linked to an Islamist/separatist group in Kashmir.

Kind of. The suspected group is Islamist, but also Kashmiri separatist, and also a creature of the Pakistani intelligence agency. So religion, sectarianism, nationalism, and state sponsored dirty tricks.
