Roadrave
Fun idea or yet another dangerous distraction?
Discussion
So speed kills but sending inflammatory messages whilst barreling along the M62 at 70 doesn't, does it? I thought they were trying to ban mobile phones/music/intelligent thought in cars anyway. Plus- I would suggest PHs don't get it - the police will probably be able to intercept the messages and programme them into some sort of GPS computer-thingy anyway. KEEP THE SPIES OUT OF OUR CARS! comments, anyone?
Think of all the benefits, finally you can get important messages across such as:
- Hey you numpty, your front/rear foglights are on!
- Stop tailgating, you won't get there any sooner!
- The bodykit on your car is the nastiest thing I have ever seen.
- Turn down your stereo. Nobody is impressed.
The possibilities are endless!
MDG.

I got seriously carved up yesterday - full emergency stop job. Did I loose my rag? Nope - she apologised, I accepted and moved on.
Why so nice? Because we were pushing shopping trollies and we could talk.
How often do you want to seriously maim another driver for doing something stupid? If you could explain to them why you're upset and they could apologise driving would become much less stressful.
Or driving will become even more dangerous as people mindlessly smash each other off the road because they're to busy writing texts...

Wouldn't it be easier and safer if all cars had some kind of BlueTooth transmitter/eceiver so you could just phone any car witihin 100 feet - it could also be used for loads of other purposes like sending messages to idiots to slow down where speed is inappropriate (and not when doing 100+ on an empty motorway).
Actually I think blanket bans on items like mobile phones are counterproductive. Driving Without Due Care And Attention sounds like it would apply to someone using a hand-held mobile irresponsibly anyway so what's the point of having a special law?
But a service like this is just stupid. I certainly won't be subscribing to it..and so anyone who wants to yell abuse at me for owning a Porsche will just have to do it the old fashioned way.
I do think mobile phone use whilst driving needs curbing somehow though. On the way in to work today I got tailgated by a numpty fluffy-bunny who spent the entire time she followed me with her hand-held glued to her ear. She held it in her right hand so she could change gear..although she clearly she needed to let go of the steering wheel when doing so
I thought to myself...if you run in to the back of my brand spanking (ooer) new Porsche then I am *so* going to give you sh*t.
It doesn't help that some idiot bloke did actually run up the back of my wife in similar circumstances....

The point is most drivers don't make the connection between steering one handed chatting away and driving without due care and attention. A law banning the use of mobiles has exactly the lack of subtlety required to be understood by the masses.

Good point. Hadn't thought of it that way. "lack of subtlety" - superb!
Seen in a numpty in a tarted up Clio with one of these the other day. Scrolling the hilarious message: 'Hows my driving??? Call 999!!!' Oh how I laughed.
v8thunder said: Maybe they could introduces scrolling digital signs in rear windows, like 'Get off my bumper you fcuking Numpty' or 'turning up your system will never get you past my Porsche/Lotus/Ferrari', or 'warning, I've just seen a rozzer with a hairdryer'
Well, I did when the police pulled him over after he screamed (squeeked) out of a side road with no lights on at 6pm with just his bright LED numpty sign scrolling
