Having swapped jobs I'm looking for a new laptop backpack. I still have the old one but it's corporate branded so not really usable.

I like the ones that have lots of compartments, usable space for 2x 15" laptops and a washbag and space grundypants.

The one I had was a mueslii studio large which tbh i may actually just buy in non-branded form as it was great. If there is something better around I'd love to know.

I don't really want something super stylish, impractical or leather. Not mad keen on using outdoor gear (walking day packs etc) for this use either.

Could spend up to £150 or so but more if needed.

Recommendations please!

Many thanks

I have a Crumpler Proper Road8e that I think is about ten years old and going strong - no idea how many compartments, I suspect I've not found them all yet. The current equivalent seems to be this:

I mostly use Tenba DNA messenger/camera bags now, yt they do a backpack which has lots of space and compartments.

Have a look at some of the Samsonite stuff. I have one that is a good crossover between a laptop bag and a cabin bag (ie, it opens fully for putting overnight clothes in etc). The shoulder strap padding is knackered now though after years of use, so I will watch this thread for replacement ideas!

I was supplied a Gomatic Travel Pack in the 20L size:

https://gomatic.co.uk/products/the-gomatic-travel-...

It's quite pricy, but perhaps there are deals about.

I really like it, and go away for 2 or 3 night trips with work to London up to a couple of times a month.

I get a laptop and small tablet in the Laptop sleeve at the back, and keep a mouse, ear pods, pass, work phone and a USB cable in the front compartment.

I can easily fit a couple of shirts / pants / socks changes, jumper, shell jacket and wash bag in the main compartment. (And some swimmers and goggles if I find a hotel with a pool.)

If I go for longer or want to take a change of shoes, there is a zip to expand the "suitcase" section.

I use this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/VANKEAN-Backpack-Friendly...

Never heard of the make, but 18 months later and used every day for work, it is still as new.

You may not like it as it is a bit of a 'walking day pack', but if you like lots of compartments, this is for you.

I have the smaller one in the range. I wouldn't want to carry 2 laptops in it, but it's fine for 1 + shoes, all sorts of bits and pieces. Hence this one being bigger.

It even has a compartment specially for your concealed carry. Up to you what you want to conceal. I keep a sewing kit in mine, I think.

I've got a Samsonite Biz2Go and it's brilliant. More than big enough for a couple of nights away in addition to my laptop, notepad, kindle, headphones, chargers and everything else.

I use it for work and trips away with Mrs J - it was in London last week for a 2 night break and had space for 2 pairs of trousers and a big jumper that she bought.

Was looking at that one when I was trying to figure out what I currently have - looks like a good option for a budget airline friendly carry on, and only the lighter side so you aren't burning all your weight allowance with the bag if they decide to check

Looks like my old one is an Openroad which is no longer available

It wasn't cheap but just works really well in addition to looking professional (IMHO) or as professional as a rucksack can look. The plethora of different sections and zips has clearly been thought through, the challenge has been getting into the habit of always putting my stuff in the same pocket.

I use one of these for overnights, up to two days is doable with careful packing:
https://lowealpine.com/uk/phase-32

I use packing cubes, so I can fit a large packing case and a second pair of shoes/trainers in the main compartment. Can easily manage one night, have used it for two with thoughtful packing. Laptop and kindle in the back, small pocket on top for charging cables, AirPods, keys, work badges etc. Front pocket is for plugs and cables.

cheers all, i went for a Gomatic in the end as someone mentioned above and then i saw a coincidentally timed social media ad, and in combo with black friday smile

However i also really liked the samsonite ones. Would never have thought to check their lineup for these!

Tomtoc now have a new laptop bag out as a cross between an EDC and a weekend bag - the T77 Not available over here yet. I have the Tomtoc bag mentioned above and it is great for a long weekend but would be too large for the OP. Also I do not think any of the option given or the ones I can think of can securely carry two laptops. 1 yes, some can also do a tablet (12") but to safely carry two you are going to struggle

BTW careful of this world, it can become an expensive hole - I almost bought a Fyro T22 but even with 15% off the duty and tax just make it too expensive.
