Hi, I'm hopefully getting a new car in the next few weeks (fingers crossed) and would like to do some track & air field days. I'm based in Newbury and wondered what were the best/closest venues in my neck of the woods and if anyone could recommend an organiser for those places.

Do any track days take place at Thruxton by any chance?

Thanks,

Mark

Castle Combe near Chippenham is probably about
45 minutes down the M4 from you and is IMO
a great circuit.

Hullavington and Keevil are both off of that junction. Big airfields with loads of run off. I did both of these with MSE and they are top blokes and blokettes.

I have never heard of a trackday at Thruxton, as the noise restriciotns are extremely tight. Even for race cars, I believe they only allow 2 days testing a year. It's a fantastic track, but realistically you'll only ever get to learn it if you buy one of their corporate days or do a race there.

I recommend you go up to Bruntingthorpe or similar.

Go to Hallavington or keevil as stated. The surfaces are fine, loads of run off, sounds like you new to track days these are far less intimidating than , say Castle combe. see www.motorsport-events.com £89-99 for the day, instruction available at £25. I am going in my Noble 17/10/05 maybe see you there

Thanks everyone,

I think I'll be getting a noise meter to make sure I can get under 100db before booking.

if you're new to the car and trackdays perhaps try an airfield day first. the runoffs are usually huge compared to circuits. imo the armco/earth banks are a bit close for comfort at combe.
