Kuala Lumpur Area
Discussion
After experiencing our first proper trip to the far east earlier this year we've boon looking to explore some more countries in and around Asia and found a great deal for a a couple of weeks in KL next March so have booked it.
We've already got a few things in mind to do including the Batu Caves, Elephant Sanctuary, Petronas Towers and a lot of the different cultural neighbourhoods but thought it wise to ask the great and good on PH for your opinions after you were so helpful with ideas for this year's trip.
We're happy to get out of the city for maybe a day or two if there are any "must see" places that are a little further away as well.
As usual thanks for your help,

We are not long back from visiting Penang. Highly recommended especially for the food plus loads to do when you are there.
We got an Air Asia flight from KL which is about 50 mins.
Comprehensive guide to Penang and Georgetown here. https://onpenang.com/penang-things-to-do/
Our favourite eatery was the Red Garden for variety and value for money.

I lived in KL for 2 months in 2023. In addition to what you ve already mentioned:
- Pangkor Island. You can get a bus from KL to the ferry point, then ferry over onto the island. Given the distance you will want to book 1 or 2 nights there which will be quite cheap. It s less touristy and in my honest opinion, better than Langkawi Island. It s a real hidden gem. You can hire a moped for the day for like £20 and ride around the entire island visiting all the little temples
- Jalan Alor for street food (one of the longest street food strips in the world- it ll be busy) and try some durian fruit
- Thean Hour temple
- Merdeka 118 tower should be open now (2nd tallest building in the world)
- Chinatown
PS: What deal have you found as I d like to go back for a week at some point!
