I'm thinking of doing a track day, perhaps Bedford but am aware there are sound limits. Does anyone here know how loud a 996 turbo X50 is and what noise limits i would pass?

Don't know the noise level of the X50, but you should be fine unless it's got a noisier aftermarket exhaust fitted.

it's got a standard exhaust... just don't want to get turned away having paid the money!

Believe me you will be OK.
I would be amazed if a standard 996TT exhaust is too loud.

I'd expect you to be ok too, turbos are generally a bit quieter anyway.

You can still end up with freak results if the atmospherics + wind direction are wrong on the day in question though. Couple of people with not massively loud cars got thrown off bedford in the afternoon a couple of weeks ago, having been fine all morning.

the turbo is definitely louder than the standard 911 though

Turbos themselves act as silencers so you should be fine. If you car meets EU new vehicle regs (which it does) then you have nothing to worry about. Tyre noise can easily be a bigger problem than exhaust noise.

The only road legal cars I have set Bedford's noise meters off in were both Westfields. One with a Blackbird engine in it, the other was an XTR-2.

The Blackbird engined one was interesting there. If I could have shown restraint and only used 11,000rpm, I would have been fine. But how can you just waste the best 3,000 rpm that it has.

I was also there when a Tiger was testing (two Hyabusa engines in a Westfield). It was the fastest thing I've ever seen outside F1, down the straights. It cornered like new born baby giraffe on LSD. Best of all, it set off the noise meters from 400m away!!

Thats rather my point though, m12_nathans CSL was kicked off 2 weeks ago, as was a chap in a gallardo. Both had standard exhaust. Just bad wind direction + atmospherics.

Also getting past EU noise limits is done with smoke and mirrors on most sports cars (i.e. valves that open up in ranges that aren't tested).
