Currently trying to throw a pretty unpleasant infection (had a srape for culturing this morning, which is not the best weekend fun activity) after yet another instance of RCAS on waking on Thursday am.

Seem to be the fall-out of a metal in eye accident a good few years ago and looking for effective strategies to heal the bugger and keep it healed…

Anti Bs and dilation drops currently, back to the hospital Monday or Tuesday so would like to advance my knowledge by then.

Ta for any thoughts

can be a sod of a condition to get sorted - most important thing to do is use oil based lubricant such as hylonight overnight as the eye dries out during sleep and can rip the erosion open again on waking sometimes weeks later - I would use it for 8 weeks - in really awkward cases bandage contact lenses need to be used overnight. Surgically they can do an excimer laser procedure which works well but not available on the NHS as far as I know - they can do a debridement as well but that isn't much fun!!

Thanks… although I didn’t know RCAS was even a thing until about 24 hours ago, I was aware my eyes do dry at night and had been using Hylo Forte drops from time to time. Will look at the more specific options.

I've recently started using HyloNight and it seems to work, possibly the best of all the ointments/gels/creams I've tried*. I keep a small mirror by my bed, so I apply it, then immediately try to sleep - no more reading once it's applied.

* I've also changed my vape mixture (less polypropylene glycol) and am vaping less, which also might have made a difference. I know, council frown.
