Would anyone be interested in a pay per lap principle at Silverstone? In the same way as they have at the Ring? Was wondering if it could be set-up there. Anyone have an opinion of Silverstone as a track day place anyway? Sorry to throw two issues in at once, just interested in some feedback as I've thought of asking them about doing it.

Silverstone is OK as a Track Day venue. Its not the *most* fun track I've ever been on, though...and its expensive.

I suppose the expense could make "per lap" pricing attractive - as one could turn up and just do ten laps or so...

I'm afraid "per lap" or "per session" days (e.g. those at Castle Combe) have a dreadful reputation. I would not take my car one as I want to be on track with people as anxious to keep their pride and joy in one piece as I am...

I suppose you might get the hooligan element. Have not actually been on a driving experience there yet. I've heard the facilities are naff. Portacabins etc.

The Ring is 15 euros I think. Perhaps a pricier route would deter some quarters!

Castle Combe's facilities are great for track days and their restaurant has the best grub ever. I even like the track - do it a couple of times most years.

I'm not criticising CC for a moment (they have enough trouble...).

I am commenting I would not attend the "per lap" or "per session" days held at the track. I think they might have been "Car and Car Conversions" days? It is well documented (on here) that some utter muppets attend and fly off the track. Five across going into Quarry etc. I wouldn't take my car out on track under those conditions...
