Last Thursday I was on a video call from my laptop and got a black screen of death. On rebooting, it would not connect via Bluetooth to my mouse or buds. There was an odd message in the Device Manager against an unknown USB device.

After an hour and half, I rolled back a security update that had been automatically applied that day, and all worked again. Then this week, discovered my PC could not find my printer. Had to uninstall, reinstall and mess around to get that to work.

I made no changes at all. Is this Microsoft at work?

Most likely, we had an update to windows 11 last year which borked a key feature we use at work and it's taken Microsoft ages to even acknowledge and roll out a fix.

I mentioned my experience to a couple of people over the last week. Once had lost WiFi connectivity, and another also had problems with their bluetooth mouse and (WiFi) printer.

It is a right royal pain when you come to rely on things to work, then suddenly they don't, with no apparent explanation. I keep updates on for security purposes, but when it seems that Microsoft themselves may be the culprit....

Reminds me. My annual Office 365 Subscription will autorenew at the end of December. I must ask them to take off Copilot, as they now automatically add in and charge a premium. Its a big increase too.

I created a thread on this at the start of the year for a family 365 subscription https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Had this a couple days ago... Win 10

Lost the Bluetooth On/Off button so mouse refused to work.

When running another Win Update yesterday functionality returned.

Annoying.
