This morning I park up my car in the office car park, and lock it. Get in this afternoon and there is a lump on the steering wheel, it feels a bit like a bit of sticker or something, I just presume I have a bit of label or what not on my hand and try to pick it off... there is a cut on the leather of the wheel...

Any thought on WTF has happened?

Did you have a coat or bag on passenger seat and take it with you as you exited drivers door?

(We can come up with all sorts of bantz / fun explanations, but at the end of the day if the car was locked they you have somehow done it as you got out or have not noticed it for a while)

Your partner or a child did it and either didn't notice or more likely thought you wouldn't.

Ive done similar with my fingernail, but more of a surface scrape than a cut. Looks and feels rubbish but it does eventually wear down smooth from use.

I had this on my last BMW, it was like someone had but as Stanley blade round the wheel. Noticed it when driving off and like you thought something had got stuck on it. Very strange

Car been serviced recently? MOT'd? Looks like a drag mark from something with a sharp metal edge, clipboard or similar. Wild guess, probably wrong.

I do have freakish finger nails but don’t recall catching it!

I am pretty certain it was not like it this morning, it’s bloody annoying lol

I had something similar once. No idea how it occurred. I bit of leather polish and a microfibre cloth thankfully got rid of it though (I didn't think that was going to work either, but it did!)

When you say 'lump' are you referring to the gouge/abrasion?

As in the second pic, to the left of the 'gouge' there looks to be a slight lump - but possibly the light?

So what are you referring to?

Nah it’s a “cut” not a lump as such, but it’s tactile, when steering it’s obviously there. Will try some leather cleaner and micro on it.

Id suggest wetting it by wrapping a wet cloth around it then drying with a hairdryer to help raise the impression

Looks like a scratch from a cats claw, have you had any cats drive the car recently?

Where were your keys when you parked? Did you put them in your hand and then lean on the steering wheel as you were getting out?
