We’ve usually had an SUV as one car for daily duty and road trips to Europe with our cockapoo. The other was usually a convertible sports car of some description for my solo trips and sunny days out without the dog.

We’ve had a Taycan ST for almost a year now and whilst I think it’s great, my wife pretty much hates driving it due to the size. She would love a Mini so that’s happening. It'll be used by both of us as an everyday car but not for our road trips.

I could keep the Taycan and save some money but before I give up the search, is there anything that could replace it that would provide comfortable transport for us, the dog and some luggage AND be fun enough for me to use for solo road trips.

Budget to £125k but would rather closer to £100k.

I know it wont be a convertible but is there a 2+2 sports car with rear folding seats that gives a pretty large boot space? I’ve looked at the new AMG GT and FF.

With that budget imo it would be the best FF I could find:

As much as I like a Mercedes the GT doesn''t cut it in the same way as the the FF.

Thanks. Pretty slim pickings for what I’m after I guess.

I’d probably look at an FF or trade into a Panamera, fk having an electric as a road trip car.

Could something like a S63 Convertible work? Might even nudge a leggy SLS on that

LC coupe seats do fold, not sure on the Maserati. I’ve had convertible versions of both and the boots on both are very limited. Coupes are bigger. Our Cockerpoo is fine in the back of the LC with lots of protection - I had the carbon cill trims PPF’d just in case.
Some sort of Aston could work eg Vanquish V12 would be an FF competitor but I suspect the boot there would also be crap.

Can the electric Mini be a Mini convertible and that way it answers part of the problem allowing more scope for the toy...?

We have an electric mini (F56) alongside a Tesla MY but I'd happily have a Taycan ST instead of the MY! In answer to your question though, I'd be getting a FF in a heartbeat if I could. There does seem to be a massive disconnect between what they're advertised at online and what they sell at through auction though - if you look at past sales on Collecting Cars, £80k gets you a 2014 with panoramic roof and <40k miles leaving a £20k slush fund, the same money through AT seems to get you a leggy 2011.
