How many replies before someone ignores the question and says they're all terrible in China Town and they should go to some family owned establishment in Mayfair?

If you are looking for a memorable experience try Wong Kei.

Do you want Cantonese style, I.e. dishes familiar from your standard takeaway or something different?

Is that the one where the staff treat you with contempt?

We have been to Barshu a few time, it’s just outside of China town and found it very good although not the cheapest.

They used to (back in the 80s/90s. These days they are more civilised.

Gold Mine on Wardour street (a few doors up from Wonk Kei) is good - Best duck in Chinatown however, as with most in the area, service and food seems dependent upon the moon and star alignment (inconsistent)!

Sister in law is Chinese, Gold Mine is her family's default choice if they are in Chinatown and want Chinese food ( Vietnamese food is also popular in her family)

Although it's not in Chinatown, Shanghai Family is a firm favourite.

It's a different scene to be fair, and there are some people there who are, frankly, rather obscene

Does it have to be Chinese?

Speedboat bar on Rupert Street does epic Thai.

Four seasons on Wardour street is our go to. The "window meats" are amazing. Soy chicken also top notch. There are a few good ones.

My favourite has been Imperial China on Lisle Street for many years. I haven’t been for a couple of years I will admit just because I’ve not been in the area when hunting for dinner.
