Good pans that are worth the money, or overpriced because they are endorsed by Tom?

I bought a set of 3 from M&S (generic M&S) in a sale for about £70 a few years ago.

They have glass lids with a vent. They’ve been good so far but they never go in the dishwasher.

My issue with those above is how are the handles attached?

It looks like an exotic attachment failure point.

Usually fixings are aluminium pins right through, spot welds, etc.

Having something that isn’t one of those, ime, tends to mean they’re in the bin sooner than desired.

Ah, welded handles. But how through that thick bit of handle? My gut is saying underneath is a welded plate and then that posh handle is interference fit slid over?

And copper base. I’ll admit I wouldn’t notice on a pan.

For my frying I use cast iron.

My attitude to anything endorsed is that some part of the purchase price is paying for the endorsement, so by definition you’re getting less good value.

Look at the Pro Cook Professional range instead. They're great value for money and have a great warranty.

Look at the John Lewis 5-ply pots.

I have a feeling I will be passing them down to my kids when I kick the bucket!

They don’t look any better than the M&S stainless range I’ve had for about 5 years that come with a 25 year guarantee

I did actually look at these today in M&S as they had a large display of them, but really couldn’t tell the difference next to the stainless steel frying pan I bought, these look like these are almost the same just stamped with that knobheads name.

I've Stellar stainless pans with lifetime guarantee. I've had them since 1995.
Last year a glass lid rivet wore loose - they sent me a new lid.
I've just also found I've got a wobbly handle with another worn rivet - and by return of email they've confirmed new pan is on the way.
Not cheap, but I'm unlikely to ever buy another pan again.

Same.. i can’t stand any celeb endorsement for anything really.. even if it’s someone I like.

Another vote for Stellar, we've had their draining sauce pans for ten years and they're as good as new.

Cooking on induction these pans are perfect but then the Stellar non stick frying pans don't work so well. Maybe the bases are different to the saucepans.

So instead, for frying pans I like De Buyer Mineral B... which are heavy and soon look a bit grim but fry sausages very nicely.
