Transferring vested shares between accounts
Discussion
Hi all,
I have a shares account at work with e-trade and some shares will vest next month. I could just immediately sell and withdraw as cash of course and re invest, but I wondered if anyone has experience of swapping vested shares between accounts. I’d like to move them once vested to my aj bell account as they will be a little cheaper to maintain and everything is in one place.
I called aj bell but the answer didn’t seem clear based on the fact that after this bunch vest, there will still be a lot unvested on a schedule. The shares in my e trade account are also in USD, as is the helpline phone number as I work for a US company.
Thanks!

Also had an e trade account.
I remember a colleague possibly doing this. You’d need to check with E*Trade. I can’t remember if they had to be held for an amount time first.
To be honest I found E*trade pretty easy to deal with, once I’d got everything set up and a Wise account to get the money home.
It’s generally not regarded as a good thing to hold onto RSU, options or ESPP shares for too long.
