How often do you wash jeans?
Discussion
Occurred to me while reading the recent ironing topic that I wash jeans far less than any other item of clothing.
My norm before laundering:
Pants and socks - wear once
Work shirts - wear once
T-shirts - wear for a couple of days (if not hot weather / sweaty)
Hoodies/jumper - good for 3-4 days before washing
Suit jacket/trousers - rotate 3 sets on different work days (1-2 wears/week each) & dry-clean every 3 weeks
Jeans however, I will wear for several weeks before putting them in the machine unless they are obviously dirty.
Think I have a pair that haven't been washed since late 2023 despite being worn once a week.
No idea why I think jeans are different to all other garments - have always thought that if they don't smell or look filthy then game on.
Am I alone in this or just a scumbag?

I’m pretty
Much inline with you on the other clothing items but I wash my jeans once a week, but I do wear my jeans daily when I’m at work, not working in a particularly dirty environment usually.
I can wear the same jeans for 7 days straight then throw them in the wash at the end of that working week.

Jeans every so often when they're a bit manky or stretched.
Surely it's not only the frequency of washing but the wash cycle and drying that impact clothes longevity / wearability.
I only wear jeans out and about and not for DIY or around the house so they get a wash every 10- 20 wears but on a short cool (30c) cycle.
When I was working my shirts were laundered and ironed daily. Suits for about a month but i had 3 or 4 so after about 30 wears then dry cleaned. Back in the day of slam door trains which allowed smoking and also the office it was way more often. Thank goodness those smoking bans came in.
There's a lot to be said for the sniff test.

I wasn't aware of that guide but I could have written it! Pretty much exactly how I treat my jeans, rarely bother with washing power/liquid, unless they are stained/picked up smells, just a long rinse cycle and air dry. Spot clean if I drop something on them.OzzyR1 said:

I thought I was bad getting a week out of jeans.Think I have a pair that haven't been washed since late 2023 despite being worn once a week.
What are you doing in the jeans? If you are going outside pretty much at all several weeks between washes is way too long not to be scummy.

My norm before laundering:
Pants and socks - wear once - SAME
Work shirts - wear once - I DON'T HAVE ANY WORK TEESHIRTS
T-shirts - wear for a couple of days (if not hot weather / sweaty) - POLOS MAY GO A LOT LONGER
Hoodies/jumper - good for 3-4 days before washing - RARELY IF EVER WASHED, IF THEY ARE OVER A TEESHIRT.
Suit jacket/trousers - rotate 3 sets on different work days (1-2 wears/week each) & dry-clean every 3 weeks - NEVER, EVER DRY CLEAN MY SUITS.
Jeans however, I will wear for several weeks before putting them in the machine unless they are obviously dirty. - WHEN I'VE GOT THEM REALLY DIRTY OR SWEATY OR THEY'VE STRETCHED.
