I'm in the process of creating a presentation to an insurer (I work for a brokerage) with a view to rating the T440 R - If we let them decide how to rate it they will just say no, or take months deciding.

I understand that the performance can vary wildy depending on the spec. Apart from the obvious difference in price, does anyone know what the performance difference is likely to be from the standard speed six spec Tuscan???

All suggestions welcome!!!

Isnt it all on the TVR Engineering web site or in copies of EVO magazine. It is called a 440 as it is 440 bhp. The performance will be similiar to other TVRs eg Cerb RR or Tuscan S (but slightly better) but the big issue is repair costs with a different method of bodywork build.

Andy,

Seeing as you're based in Surrey, is it Sunninghill you work for?

I work for an insurance company, albeit on the IT side of things. I think the issue with the T440R and T400R will be the cost of repair rather than the performance.

The bodywork is all carbon fibre, rather than GRP. Performance wise it's going to be a bit faster and a bit quicker than the Cerbera RR.

Also, the website shows that it has a 4ltr engine, I've been led to believe it is a 4.2ltr engine and only the T400R will have the 4ltr.

Neil.

Thanks for your replies, I already have a vague idea of the performance but from speaking to various people who are looking into buying the car, they tell me the performance is going to vary depending on the spec they choose.

But you are right the important factor for the insurers is going to be the repair costs, and as these are going to be significantly higher than other models, the rating is going to have to reflect that (sorry Simpo).

But seeing as all Tiv's are group 20 (maximum) it doesn't leave a lot of scope. I suspect we will have to apply a loading for the value and then analyse the claims stats over time to refine it.

Thanks again.

PS Yes Neilus I do work at Sunninghill!
