Don't mind taking a slightly longer route for some nice roads and scenery, any reccomendations? I don't know this part of the UK very well.

This is the Google maps suggested route, seems decent but I'm wondering if it's missing out on anything nearby. Thanks.

If you're after a bit more excitement, I've done this sort of route in the past when working in Cardiff, Ebbw Vale, Port Talbot, Llanwern (and would carry straight on from Newtown through Oswestry to Liverpool) but I'd take it a lot easier at this time of the year than mid-summer...as roads are narrow, have blind crests (with turns straight after), and are subject to wandering wildlife.
