2017 Macan 3l petrol 12v boot socket, I'm using it to power a rear dash cam and I'm wondering if it turns off with the ignition or after a short period of time if it still sees a draw on power.

This may be related to my battery charging voltage always being high as if the unit is holding itself on due to the draw from the dash cam.

I had a read through the manual and I cant find anything definitive.

I may set up and indication light plugged into the socket that I can see from the outside of the car to see if it does shut off with a load on it.

The socket in our 2023 Macan needs the ignition to be switched on to make it live.

For info, rather than an answer to your query.

We also have a 2017 Macan 3l Petrol.

We have installed a battery pack under the boot floor to power the front dash cam, feeding the rear dash cam. We then use the 12v socket in the boot to recharge the battery pack, only plugging it in when the engine is running. This allows the dash cam's parking mode to be used without impacting the Macan's battery and causing low-voltage issues. The only manual requirement necessary is to pull the battery packs 12v plug out of the 12v socket in the boot before locking the car, and plugging it back in after opening the car.

The size of the Dash Cam battery pack and the power draw from the Dash Cams will determine how long the Parking Mode will continue to operate before it flattens the battery pack. Ours will operate way in excess of 24 hours.
