Sure there was a thread on this but damned if I can find it.

Anyway seems the guy has changed his plea at the last moment and it's all an appalling act of road-rage rather than "panic" or anything of that nature.

Paul Doyle pleads guilty to Liverpool parade charges

Dashcam footage from before he was anywhere near the parade and all sorts yikes

Yeah I was looking for the previous post as well but couldn’t find it.

Wonder how long he’ll get.

It’s all pretty crazy what happened.

Remember there was a conspiracy theory going on about the guy pulled out the car looking so different to the guy in the court photos.

Just talking about this, still doesn’t seem to make any sense at all.

Not political, no drugs, no mental health, just all very odd.

Yeah when i saw headline this morning I searched a few times to post the bbc link. The ph search is gash.

The part of the story that stood out to me. Ford Galaxy Titanium.

It just seemed odd to list the model type.

How relevant is the trim level of a car?

Citroen ax salsa for example?

Indeed

He can't argue he didn't do it, it will be interesting to see if he offers an explanation or mitigation

Everything you about this guy points to him being a perfectly normal family man with no warning signs as to this type of behaviour.
He just seems to have flipped out.
There will be many psychologist etc trying to figure this one out.

Unbelievably luckily no one was killed. That is some kind of miracle.

+1.

Makes no sense, he was just dropping someone off.

I can only think he thought he was going to get "Two Corporal-ed" and paniced.

I guess due to the guilty plea we're never going to get an explanation.

(I also searched for the thread for ages yesterday. Used AI, Google , the PH search. No joy. Frustrating.)

I suspect his lawyers will be working pretty hard on his mitigation when it comes to sentencing, which should give us some explanation. It’s all very odd

Maybe he had a temporary fit of road rage. In any case it could have been a hell of a lot worse. I suspect he's going to get a very long time in prison for this.

The reporting is just weird.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c8xd97z0k00t

Drives his mate into town, perfectly normal.

Turns round to go home like a complete nutter. Returns 5 hours later, still a madman who proceeds to mow people down.

I don't doubt there was an element of panic once he started doing what he did but to just snap like he has is.... crazy.

Even more astonishing.

´Doyle was completely sober and free of all drugs´.

Reminds me of this fella. Was apparently stuck in traffic due to a parade and completely loses it. It’s like a switch with some people and then carnage ensues. Irrational doesn't even come close.

PTSD?

If he's ex Commando, he's probably been in some unpleasant situations.

I'd guess it must be PTSD but it's his responsibility to control the impulses, and that's certainly how the law works. I must confess I called this totally wrong, I thought he acted in fear - two corporals style. Looks like I was very wrong. Hopefully he'll have many years inside to reflect on this, what a prick.

Never saw any active service and was kicked out of the Marines after a short time for getting pissed and fighting in nightclubs.

After discharge for that (which his unsuccessfully challenged) he was somehow allowed into the Royal Marine Reserve but was convicted of GBH and sent to prison for biting a bloke's ear off in a pub fight.

He's a Walt who can't handle his drink.

Well that the last tiny shred of sympathy I had for him gone.

Just a violent scumbag who decided to continue being a violent scumbag.

21 years. Joke really. He’ll do 2/3rds if he survives that long.
