Hi all

As above

All been working fine but tonight plugged in and it isn't detecting the car. It's all through the charger not the car, car has never had any schedules or anything as I've always done it all via the charger. Charger is on WiFi and showing as connected. Reset charger at the RCD and also reset router... Nothing doing.

Unplugged and plugged in the car multiple times.. nothing. Toggled smart charging on and off.. nothing.

I think the problem is at their end and strangely it's showing that there's an issue with my electricity usage, as in it isn't showing in the app like it was yesterday. Does anyone know if they lose connection to the meter does the intelligent go not work? Bit rubbish if that is the case given it's on 4g and might have the odd drop out.

Very annoying, it's great when it works but I need to use the car tomorrow and really need to set off with a full battery. Maybe if I just leave it plugged in it'll sort itself overnight ..

I’d try killing the octopus app on your phone and opening it up again.

That didn't do anything but the connectivity isn't through the app anyway so wouldn't expect it to

I can't remember the exact details but I had a similar issue once and ended up turning off smart charging in the Octopus app and setting a schedule on the car (which knew it was connected). Cost a bit extra as I started it early to make sure it worked but at least I had a charged car in the morning.

Everything had returned to normal next time I charged the car so I assume it was some sort of glitch.

Cheers. I don't need to leave until after lunch tomorrow so if it doesn't miraculously sort itself out I'll just disconnect the charger from octopus and put 20% in at full price - not good though, it's great when it works but without disconnecting and reconnecting to octopus every time there's no way to circumvent it if there's a problem, I'm sure the problem is at their end and it's going to cost me money.

Saw this
“Even if it s on 4G, some chargers still rely on a valid meter reading for smart functions. If the meter loses connection briefly, intelligent charging may temporarily stop until it reconnects”
Is the smart meter working?

Have you tried connecting the car as the device in IOG instead of the charger?

Car isn't supported.

I had this issue not long ago and in the end I had to reset the app and then re register the charger on the app.
It was a bit of a pain but sorted the issue and it’s been fine ever since touch wood.

The charger doesn't rely on the meter but maybe octopus won't initiate the smart charging via the charger if they lose the meter. The meter works fine but what I don't know is whether they've had a connectivity issue getting the data ..

I've something similar a couple of times. Once the t&c's in the app for the car had been updated and needed reaccepted another was to do with an update to my pod point charger or app.

Good old global reset of turn off everything, including the charger by the breaker, made sure all apps are up to date, and it all started working again.

Quick workaround is to disable planned charging, plug in and set to charge from within the car (not the app).
