Iberostar Anthelia Costa Adeje July already in place.
Relatively good deal and booked well in advance usually very last minute.

Was a nice hotel and holiday last time, but that was 6/7 years back. Hopefully still decent.

Melia on Costa Adeje in April for 10 days. Not sure I can wait that long as we usually get some winter sun....

Booked 10 nights self catering at Apartments La Peñita in Puerto del Carmen Lanzarote for Feb 2026. Two apartments needed as our 19yr old son is coming with us, so he's getting his own apartment at our expense! Close to the strip with all its bars and restaurants etc. I remember the resort having a nice each when we last went over 20yrs ago.

Anyone stayed here?

Wife may go to Lanzarote with her mum at Easter. MIL went a few years ago and loved it.

After Fuerteventura 4 times, this year, already, including in a week or so (99 quid for two returns, who wouldn't), we have Fuerteventura once again at the end of January and Gran Canaria in March (not been there for a while and variety counts).

We go up to 8 times a year based on finding cheap flights, booking a self-catering apartment for a week to 10 days and eating out every night. Keeping it cheap means more holidays.

Thats a good idea, you obviously have flexibility and the time to do it, so why not.
Do you tend to stay at the same apartments, book directly with them etc?

I used to book with various sites but they all got bought up by the big boys. I used VRBO/ Holiday Rentals but then started using Booking.com as they have a Genius discount system. There are also some cash only agencies who usually have something available at a decent price. I have had apartments in just about every complex in Caleta so you soon learn which ones to avoid and which way the sun points.

We like Lanzarote too but due to the recent clampdown on non VV registered properties, prices have gone up and FV tends to be best value overall.

Not been to Gran Canaria for about 30 years, got a RIU AI in Maspalomas booked for January.
Expecting quite a different experience to last time I was in the area, back in the days of booking last minute, 'allocate on arrival', and then 14 Saturday nights in a row. paperbag
Bar names in the Yumbo don't seem to leave a great deal to the imagination these days, which at least will take the surprise out of quiet evening drinks. boxedin

Our 10 nights isn't cheap at £4k, whilst thats partly due to us needing two apartments I suppose the recent changes you've mentioned will be contributing to that too.

As an alternative to car hire, what's the Lanzarote bus service like, is there a service that goes around the island between resorts for trips out?
If so, is the island and bus service such that you could visit a few resorts in a day?

I've only ever used the bus twixt airport and PDC which are regular and they go to Costa Teguise and probably Play Blanca.

We always get a hire car with Autoreisen which is cheap enough but there's not too much to see on Lanzarote and what there is costs more money - volcanoes, caves, the Omar Sharif house, Jameos de Los Aguas and the viewpoint at the top, all require money for admission. El Golfo is free but they stopped people going on the beach some time ago.

More to see on FV and with a hire car, you can go where you please - Corralejo dunes, El Cotillo, Ajuy caves, La Pared, Cofete, Pajara etc etc.

I read they shut down about 11000 non-VvV let's. That said, in FV, we pay 400-450 for an apartment for 7 days so get cheap flights and it's all still good

Thanks. I reckon we'd only be wanting to do an occasional day trip from Puerto Del Carmen to another resort on the island, or go to one in the morning and one on the afternoon, a bus would tick that box if there is one. I'll do some Googling smile

bit of info for you , most buses prefer cash maximum 10 euro note , card can be used but patchy signal and driver gets shirty if no signal which means no cash no go

Ther is also Moovit app available which shows routes , stops etc.
