If you know Holiday Villages...
We first booked on one as a kind of mistake, despite the TA stating "some folk love them and some folk..." but by the end of the holiday and despite some rum fellow travellers we/the kids loved it so much we went back again!
With children of 7 and 10, the entertainment, kids clubs and other children were just superb-they loved it. We've done nicer hotels but entertainment starting later than 7pm never works (ours go to bed at 7!) and the shows, silent disco, stage school-they bloody loved it.
But, as I said, some of the clientele can be a bit rough to say the least.
As long as mum and dad can chill, we are happy the holiday being 99% focussed on the kids and their enjoyment. We can do site seeing and cultural things when they're older. The hotels could be anywhere-we never leave the site!
For now they want entertainment, games by the pool, kids clubs with crafting and as many chicken nuggets and melon as they can eat!
Has anyone else found anything else so totally kid-centric? We can get 10 nights in Majorca in the summer holidays for under £5k AI. Ideally a 3-4 hour maximum flight away-closer would be even better. We're now in that catch 22 situation of having found something that suits the kids so perfectly we don't want to spend £5k on something they won't like as much!

Have a look at the Zafiro and GF Hotel chains. Whilst not quite Holiday Village levels of entertainment and activities, they still have some very child focused hotels. The benefit is that they are also slightly more adult friendly too. Have a look at the GF Victoria or Zafiro Palace Alcudia.. though the reason we like them is the ability to go for a wander in the evening and get better food in the local area, which you don't seem fussed about.
I have no experience of their Holiday Village but if it's a holiday type you all love then keep doing it.
Holidays abroad with kids who dont want to be there would be a drain. You've only a few more years until they will have outgrown it, and maybe even don't want to go away with you any longer, so enjoy it whilst you can.

Seriously have a look at Antalya in Turkey. The 5 star hotels really are something else. No doubt a lot cheaper than 5k as well.
I last went to Turkey 20 odd years ago. The difference now is amazing. We're off again next year, compared to Spain, we found it cleaner outside the hotels as well. Plus the all inclusive is a step up imo.

We are starting to come out of the time where all that matters is the kids entertainment and a decent pool if you want a happy family holiday. With TUI we tried a couple of holiday villages but they just felt too big and with some massive family groups that just kinda took over areas [1 granny at 6am reserving 15 beds round the pool kinda thing] . In contrast we'd done a few TUI Suneo which are more budget but were much smaller so kids friendships seemed easier, less stars but we found it a more pleasant experience. Several years on the reps Suneo song still remains with us!
