Brick pillar width
Discussion
I've completed a 2 storey rear extension recently and the two pillars either side of the doors had to be 3 bricks wide according to building regs, this is all fine and has been passed. But I want to alter something at the front of the house and take the outrigger up another storey. To be honest I'm actually not sure about even doing this due to making the house look different to the others on the close. But supposing I was to do it the problem I would have is the pillar to the left of the front door is only currently 1.5 bricks wide. This is how it looks at the moment (well 14 years ago when I bought it)

I did a sketchup drawing ages ago of how I wanted it to look, although it would have a gable and not a hip roof.

There is a house round the corner that was built a few years after mine and it was built pretty much how I was thinking although that has the front door round the side. I could move the door to the side but the toilet is on the right side and the gas and electric are on the left wall.

Is this at all doable? it would only be for a walk in wardrobe off the main bedroom. My quandary is I have 800 matching bricks to do the job just about and you cant get them anymore but I don't really have space to store them anywhere, so its build it or chuck them, but then I'll never be able to build it.
(Yes I know it will annoy the scouse neighbours if I build it)
