Very puzzling, because it was an Aston Martin related topic.

Presumably it might be work of the new Downing Street E&DA squad.

Because there was an existing, much longer thread already discussing the subject (linked to the PH article about the car).

Fair enough, but then you should have Moved the new topic to the one you refer to, not Closed the discussion..

The problem remains, that if the original first topic is not on the Aston Martin sub-forum, then Aston Martin enthusiasts will not see it anyway.

Why did you not move the original topic, to the Aston Martin sub-forum, because that is the subject of discussion?

There were only four posts in the thread, one of which pointed out the existing discussion related to the PH story, so really not worth merging.

I'm sure Aston Martin enthusiasts can find threads in General Gassing, along with all the other forums.

All threads commenting on PH news stories are posted in General Gassing; that's the way it has always been.

I never look in general gassing, not sure if other people do but I only ever look in the Aston part

Yep, every day at 9am I search General Gassing for Aston Martin threads just in the off-chance someone's posted a lovely story. Of course if they don't have 'Aston Martin' in the title I have to open and read every post just to be sure, but it's well worth the 23' 59" it takes
