Just received my renewal premium from Admiral at £1,454 versus £683 for last year’s premium. This is for a 65 year old living in Suffolk with max no claims and with my wife covered. Before I start shopping around can anyone make recommendations as to who to try for a more competitive premium?

Check out the options and go back to them telling them that you are leaving ... I believe that they are open to negotiation ...

They did the same to one of my neighbours, increased from about £800 to £1100 ish.

Compare the Market came in with many quotes below that and he finally got insured with Saga for just over £700.

Admiral contacted him and asked why he had not renewed and moved to Saga, he told them how much cheaper Saga was and they immediately said they could match it, and he told them to get stuffed.

He said that was very satisfying.

He also lives in rural Suffolk.
