Folks,

Until recently I’ve been successfully maintaining a Spotify subscription using the Indian subscription hack…sadly this has now come to an end as they have closed this loophole.

In protest, I cannot bring myself to pay the £15 a month or whatever it is now, but I miss Spotify….

Obviously I have a lot of saved music, which is fine, that can be re-found, however I did really like the podcasts on Spotify and also, it seemed to integrate far better with my Alexa/Sonos home speakers. IE, you can just play it and select/move between output speakers etc.

Partner has added me to the Family sub for Apple Music. In some ways it feels far superior to Spotify, but I just can’t get on with lack of integration and podcasts especially. Playlists will build back up. The sound quality seems much better, am I imagining this?

Am I using Apple Music wrong or should I just bite the bullet and return to Spotify?

It’s a weird one, I was quite happy with Spotify as it just integrates so well with Alexa google etc etc and hand off is perfect.

I ended up having to switch to Amazon music as there was no easy way to have multiple streams on the kids Amazon echo’s and they both like having their own music in their rooms, Spotify can’t do that… at least not that I can see easily, I’ve no doubt intentional by Amazon to get you to sub to their service. But I’ve never rated it for usability, doesn’t play nicely with CarPlay, I can’t voice request songs with Amazon which defeats the bloody object of CarPlay… no doubt another ploy by Amazon to get you to buy their car Alexa gadget, which wasn’t a problem when I could buy a dodgy Spotify sub share for a couple of quid… like you say these loopholes have been closed.

However on to Apple Music managed to get 6 months free subscription through my EE contract..

I like and dislike it at the same time. It seems to give good suggestions of music after your selection as finished from time to time. The audio quality does seem much better than Spotify was. Again though, although naturally being an Apple product I can voice request through CarPlay etc itt doesn’t seem to play nicely with Alexa etc, you can’t pick a track you like on the app and cast it like you can Spotify… but you can on google speakers?
I think if I could get Spotify to play separate family streams on the various Alexa devices then I’d happily go back to it because for the most part it just works.
