more condensate in oil catch can recently?

my 306 git6 used to have a crankcase oil breather pipe feed into the throttle body....made all kinds of oily mess inside my inlet manifold and valves etc.
it now goes into an air/water seperator for compresed air lines (repurposed as a mini oil catch can) then a small breather filter.
over the summer id get maybe a fingers worth of water/condenste collect over a couple of weeks of daily driving.
but over the winter/past few weeks its been more like 2 fingers in a week.
is this normal?
is it the cold weather causing it?
