Title says it all really...

Anyone got recommendations for a well fitted outdoor car cover.. Too many trees = too many leaves = too many problems which I need to avoid

Good evening,

I’ve replied to a couple of these threads lately so in keeping consistent I’ll give you my honest (and seems to be widely shared) opinion. When I purchased my new to me TVR this Summer I researched this topic to death.

Despite the fact my ‘plastic’ car is more susceptible to damage from a cover, regardless of body construction, don’t bother!

Any external cover no matter how well it fits or is secured, will move and invariably rub/damage the paint.

Best to keep clean (as best possible/is reasonably practicable) and allow air to get under/around car.

Despite this, and having an in credibly large tree overhanging my drive which pee’d me off too, I took the completely overkill option and built a car port biggrin

My neighbours freaked when I built an integrated bin screen because it breached the rules . I think there would be open warfare if I built a car port.

The issue it seems with the Bentley is that leaf litter, pine needles etc gets into the scuttle and blocks the tiny little drains that are a massive weak point in the design of this car. Resulting in flooding on the interior

The problem is compounded by the fact the car will be standing too long without being moved

Maybe I need to make a custom cover just for this…

I don’t know if such an item exists for a car of that size (and It will still make contact with bodywork) but as an interim I fitted a ‘tonneau’ cover which would in theory solve your scuttle area problem?

I have used these guys (Adrian) for years for indoor covers but they do many other options.

I recently bought a half cover from them and can recommend it. Well fitted, even includes little pockets for the wing mirrors.
I dont have a convertible but its good to keep leafs and other detritus off, as you describe above, as it covers the scuttle area too, but I accept that that I might get some small scratches around the roof and c pillars etc but most of the car will be fine....

Is there any way of poking one of those long, thin flexible brushes into the scuttle drain area? I can't be bothered with the faff of taking the wipers off etc

Is the car parked on or off the road; if the latter, have you considered something like a Carcoon?

I wish I lived somewhere that green… end terrace townhouse on a suburban London “estate” with old people that don’t like things that don’t look like they did 50 years ago.

OP, I went down the same route with my Arnage when i bought it, too big for the garage and didn’t want it sat outside all year, so in the end went for proper secure storage. I appreciate the over all cost is more than a cover, but to me was worth it as it keeps the car out of the worst of the weather when not being used. A thought maybe? smile

My S2000 lived outside for 11 years. Always had a half cover on it and I never have paint issues.

I did wash and wax it religiously each weekend so maybe that helped. To combat the issue you're saying you have, I'd buy a half cover. And keep the car clean.
