Last time we hired a car in Larnaca it was through Jet2 and fulfilled by Sixt. It was cheap enough and no complaints about the service, but they did want a healthy credit card deposit first. It was refunded with no quibbles but worth bearing in mind. I expect all the big brands will be similar.

More recently in Cyprus we've tended to go with local companies, so no deposit and often cash only. The cars aren't often quite as new but still very serviceable. We went with a company called Andros Z in Ayia Napa who were really good. Recent car, hiring for the day meant you had it for 24 hours and reasonably priced. Think it was about €60 a day for a Nissan Note, which did the job.

Not sure if they have a place in Larnaca - if not it's worth looking at some of the Cyprus FB groups, they will often have suggestions for local companies.

This is good advice, I'm actually going to stay in Limassol and the hotel will pick me up. I'll hire one locally from an indi as you suggest.
