So our cat (a ginger) seems happy enough, he's a bit of a brute and will fight most cats on his patch.

He's pushing 9 years old, a couple of years ago he had a bad leg (assuming he fell) and then I watch him hurt it again as he jumped onto an empty wheelie bin which fell over.

Went to the vets, soft tissue damage, had pain killers - after a few weeks he was okay. He can be a bit arthritic, he doesn't help him self as he will happily go out in the rain, despite having access multiple dry locations. But equally we will watch him chasing his tail in the garden, stalking or climbing vertically up our fence.

We have since had a child who is 10 months.

Over the past few weeks the cat has been sitting funny, and crying. The wife will pet him/massage his leg and he will walk away totally fine.

My parents saw him on our drive and again he was crying at them, they picked him up thinking he might have been hit by a car as soon as they put him on our front door mat he happily trotted into the house.

This has now happened multiple times in the past two weeks. Is the sodding cat attention seeking?! Generally he seems fine in himself, he's not a lap cat but does like to be around. Clearly the baby is taking up quite a bit of time and attention, the cat would have otherwise had!

The cat is happy being around the baby, but does take himself away when he wants to.

Thoughts??!!
