Urgent dog adoption advice
Discussion
Hi, thanks in advance for all replies
We've seen a dog on FB that needs "fostering with the view to adoption", sounds like an old person moving into a home and unable to take the dog.
We're considering it, as we lost our dog a few months ago.
We'll only consider it if we're adopting, I don't want to go through losing another dog in a month or something, possibly selfish, I know?
Would love to rescue another dog, anything we can do to make it a "legal" adoption, template for documents, etc?

If they're moving into a care home why do they call it fostering?
I would search on a more reputable platform than FB. Proper dog rehoming places would be my choice.
It's not in Essex but I know Appledown near Dunstable is a professional outfit: https://appledownrescue.co.uk/

First off, is this a rescue or just an individual? Do you have a young family, how much is known about the dog and its medical stuff, diet, behaviour etc? If it’s through a legit rescue then they will have paperwork that outlines everything. If you are doing this privately, then set it all out. It should protect you and the dog. Meet first before you agree to foster and get a feel for the people it’s coming from as well as the animal. Saying goodbye to a foster is hard, but if you know they are going to a home that is right for them it makes the process much easier and you can ask for updates etc. I’ve had a lot of foster dogs, I only adopted one but she was my soul dog and without letting other fosters go home, I wouldn’t have had space for her.
There isn't a dog licencing agency in Swansea, you just take the dog or don't take the dog; kennel club are bunch of thieving gits and only worth bothering with if breeding commercially. I suppose you could write a contract and exchange £1 for the dog, that would give you a piece of paper but it won't signify anything.
