Candidates and Recruitment Agencies
Discussion
I applied for a role advertised through an agent, got the unsuccessful bit but at least they responded.
Now I have just received talking completing my registration so they can look for work on my behalf, never had this before but they want me to fill out a diversity questionaire and hand over my right to work info by email.
As I would not be working for the recruitment agency but as a candidate to be hawked around, what info does the recruitment agent really need to do this?
My googling says they need to check right to work before presenting someone for a permanent position which is new to me, not seen this with other agencies.
As for the diversity questionaire, why is this even a thing for candidates? For their own employees possibly but it feels like they ask because they can rather than required to by law.
As I didn't get an interview let alone the job I don't see any benefit to giving them what they want but if anyone can shed a bit of light on legal minimum and what is fluff that can be ignored it would be appreciated.
Thanks.

In my experience recently in the past year or so even agencies barely reply or let you know if you have been successful with a role or not, companies even very rarely do, all smarmy and nice beforehand, but as soon as they get their guy you are not even made aware of rejection or anything, utterly ruthless and evil in my eyes, Just courtesy.
I have probably applied for 10 or 15 roles in the past year, been spoken to by agencies for all, interviewed by the company maybe 6 or 7 times maybe heard back from one of those agencies and one company about not getting it. As far as I am concerned I am still int eh running!! As these ignorant, discourteous rude sods have not told me otherwise.
it is impolite, rude and utterly pathetic, but this is their world, there is nothing you can do. And this is agencies AND companies.
In terms of agencies be careful, they will try anything on, I was once asked to supply bank details to an agency simply to register, I was also told by an agency that I HAD to be click a training video about how to interview or they would not put me forward for a role I had already been doing for 15 years.
Avoid big agencies they are wrapped in red tape and garbage policies from 'people' that have never worked in the industries you might want to work in, only ever sit in offices coming up with utter drivel like that.

I retired from full time work a few years ago. But I used to write (a letter with a stamp) to every unsuccessful candidate we interviewed, I am pretty sure we wrote to applicants we didn't interview too.
I also received so many calls from recruitment companies - and yet, when I applied for roles - total silence. I thought it was quite funny when I had another CEO role to remind them when they called me how they treat applicants.
