Thought it was me. I've had a look on there before and there's a few things I'm interested in but only parts of the site seem to work.

What about this?
Took it at the Griff Growl and it is very much courtesy of SI 4.3 who made it himself.
Only trouble is he found the UJ in a box of bits and I can't find anyone who can supply something so small or I would make one myself.

Ever heard of radio spares





rs online type Universal joints in the search engine on there and about 10 pages come up, the ones from that pic are on about page 3. Think they are called miniature acatel fork unversal joint, comes with a 3mm, 5mm, 6mm, and 10mm bore

That looks exactly like a UJ from a model boat - goes on the end of a Mabuchi 540 electric motor. Take yourself along to a good model shop and they should have them.

Spoke to the guy at Mod-wise. He hasn't got any at the moment although he's collecting names and will make some more when he has enough interest. So if you want one give him a call(telescopic stays).

The guy at modwise/ clarion who did the telescopic bonnet stays says he doesn't have any and won't be doing it again as it was too difficult last time.

Anyone got any ideas?

Why dont you make something up like the later griffs have,with a ball and socket at each end of the prop?You might even find all the bits in a kit,at a TVR breaker like Bell Hill for instance.

Hi Colin,have you tried Ian at torque rvt.He gets them off the Snap-on van.Failing that,try fishing tackle shop[adjustable rod rests].One of these would work just fine.See you next Tuesday.Regards,Dave J.

No pics, but my SE has one and it is a pain in the neck. If you don't get the socket onto the ball properly, the bonnet is liable to drop, damaging the paintwork on the nose cone and there are pockmarks all over the paintwork inside the front wing where people/mechanics have not taken a good grip on the bonnet stay when disconnecting the ball & socket and it has dropped onto the wing.
Doesn't Steve Heath do a replacement bonnet stay?

Yes he does (and it looks like a good quality piece of kit) but I have a Mod-Wise (David Beer) one and I rather like the principal of it being telescopic and so there is nothing to clip up inside the bonnet or to scratch the inner wing. It just needs a little refinement - which has David has volunteered to do (see other thread) kind gentleman that he is! Rich...
