We’ve all seen this meme:


I’ve done a few springs over the years and never really had a issue until today…

Front spring on to a nephews 2015 Peugeot 308.

Damn thing has to be compressed by nearly 250mm to get it to fit, that combined with there only being 6 coils in a spring ~500mm long means you end up here:


Yep. That’s two sets of compressors on one spring!

The first set compressing the 3 middle coils as far as they will go, bottoming out the compressors, then some more to compressor the bottom coil enough to get the mount on…

Mondeo front springs are the same as they're also wider in the middle, I also had to use four clamps on different parts of the spring to compress it enough to get the top nut off. I gave the other side to a garage to sort...
